HOW I GOT OUT OF MY SLUMP
heya! everybody sorry I haven’t been active on my blog I have been in a bit of a mental slump! I didn’t feel confident in writing things that I had in mind to post and have been honestly feeling down within myself and haven’t had much motivation to write anything at all.
the past week I have felt amazing! I have incorporated a few things into my life & Daily routine which I can already see a big difference in my overall well-being.
of course I` am human and I` am sure it won’t be long before something will send me into a spiral LOL. but this time around I feel truely hopeful in knowing that these tasks and way of thinking are helping me a lot.
the everything shower
now this is something that I have incorporated into my weekly routine for a few weeks now and I can already see a difference in the way I` am prioritising self care, this one little task was enough to push me into remembering the importance of treating myself and my body that little bit extra special.
some weeks when I` am not feeling that urge to do to much in the aspect of self care I at least have that one night/morning where I have my everything shower.
this can include
exfoliating
shaving ( if preferred )
hair mask
washing of hair
washing of body
face mask
lotion after shower
from experience I know to some women this is something they already incorporate into their routine, I used to be the same..
but when becoming pregnant I really struggled mentally and physically I was always doing the bare minimum because it was just easy that way, it didn’t seem important to look after myself in that aspect because once it was done I still felt the same. but trust me when I say its small things like this that can really make a difference in the long run, having that sense of self love and self care can make you feel so much better within yourself even if it's for a brief moment & even if it is just an everything shower.
and remember not to be so hard on yourself there’s no shame in struggling with things that some people may not, your never alone.
2. eating healthy in the am
making the conscious decision to making a healthy nutritious breakfast has impacted my energy levels throughout the day helping me be more on the go to do things that I benefit from. I used to never eat breakfast but have come to realise that the saying ‘ breakfast is the most important meal of the day’ that I was told when I was younger is in fact true and it makes such a difference in my day to day life personally.
becoming a mum my breakfast can kind of turn into a brunch most days but I always am making sure the first meal I have of the day is healthy. I almost am always snacking through the day until dinner so having that yummy breakfast/brunch full of goodness really helps.
I have also just started my journey with sea moss which I take 2 tablespoons daily I `am currently on day 4 and will update on whether or not I have seen results.
as well as the first thing I have before any food is a morning lemon shot - this has supposedly got some great benefits.
3. the little things
I find that the best way to have the feeling of achievement or fulfilment personally is to set small goals that are realistic to my lifestyle or how I ` am going mentally. I started realising I was trying to keep up with influencers I see online that have completely different lifestyles to me and I was constantly feeling disappointed that I wasn’t achieving what they were, or feeling like I failed because I was having a bad day and I wasn’t motivated or I had to much anxiety. I had to come to the realisation WE ARE NOT THE SAME.
I started to realise that setting small goals gives me a good feeling and it helps me achieve more in the day, I was getting confident In small things and now I have started getting confident in bigger things that I most definitely couldn’t do a month ago.
4. discipline over motivation
personally when I experience motivation its like a high when I feel it I make the most of it… but then it has a come down
I never really experience motivation for long periods of time, I have now learnt that its discipline I need, knowing what I need and what is best for me and making sure I get that done instead of expecting me to be motivated because most days I` am not. like I said in 3. its the little things but somedays I feel like doing nothing and motivation isn’t going to help me in this circumstance because I don’t have it. discipline will get it done.
do it even when you don’t want to
in no way am I meaning to do things out of your comfort or pushing yourself to hard, but if you give yourself daily goals, discipline yourself to get them done even if you don’t feel like it.
5. a clean kitchen to wake up to
usually the first place most people go in the morning is the kitchen whether its to grab a glass of water, coffee, breakfast ect.
I used to have the mindset ` I will just do it in the morning `
but waking up to a messy unorganised kitchen was always the worst start to my day, every time I woke up to an untidy kitchen I literally could do nothing before it got done and I mean not even grabbing a glass of water. I just feel personally I have seen a massive difference in my mood for the day when I wake up and its not the first thing I `am having to do, I grab my water or coffee then make breakfast and I can relax and have a breezy morning without the chaos of getting it done before I can relax, just like breakfast being the most important meal of the day the mental load in the morning Is just as important too. starting my day relaxed has definitely made a huge difference.
obviously its tiring at night after a long day but so worth it waking up to a clean space, in my personal opinion.
I have honestly been feeling amazing and these few little changes in my life have made all the difference as of lately. I hope you’re all doing well and thank you for reading.
lots of love tia <3
